Vitor Belfort injured, out of UFC 147 main event against Wanderlei Silva

In what may be the most cursed event in UFC history, the June 23 UFC 147 card in Brazil has once again lost its main event.

UFC President Dana White confirmed with reporters following the UFC 146 post-fight press conference that Vitor Belfort suffered a broken hand in training, taking him out of his coaches fight against Wanderlei Silva, a fight that was set to be a rematch of a bout the two had in 1998.

Per White, Belfort had surgery on Saturday for the injury, though he didn't have an update on how it went. White said the UFC is looking for a replacement to take on Silva on the card, which was moved to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from Rio de Janeiro when they were unable to run a stadium in the city.

That move led to the removal of the UFC Middleweight Championship rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, which now comes to UFC 148 in Las Vegas.

Penick's Analysis: They really just need to cancel this card. It's not to be. This was already the weakest pay-per-view headliner they've had in quite some time, and without the "long awaited" rematch tag it's nothing more than an Ultimate Fighter Finale, and from a season very few in the UFC's pay-per-view buying audience have seen. This card is not going to sell on pay-per-view. At all. Keeping it going at this point isn't necessarily the best of ideas.
